Lakewood City Council Applications Open

Lakewood Ohio City Council is accepting applications through 5 p.m. on Monday, November 29, 2010, from Ward 3 residents who are interested in seeking the position of their ward’s councilperson. The call for applicants follows Council’s Nov. 15 appointment of Ward 3 Councilman Mike Summers to the office of mayor, which becomes vacant on Jan. 1, 2011, as a result of Mayor Ed FitzGerald’s election to the position of Cuyahoga County Executive. On Jan. 1, Summers begins serving the final year of FitzGerald’s original four-year term as mayor. Read more…

Possible Replacement for Lakewood Mayor

City Council extends deadline for applicants for vacancies created by the election of sitting elected officials in Lakewood to other offices

Lakewood City Council is seeking applicants to fill Councilwoman Nickie J. Antonio’s position as councilmember-at-large, which will become vacant on or about January 1, 2011, when her term as representative to the Ohio General Assembly begins.  Council has extended the deadline for applications to the close of business Tuesday, November 9, 2010.

Qualifications for members of Council may be found in the Second Amended Charter, Article 3, Section 2, and Article 23, Section 3; and vacancies among councilmembers are governed by Article 3, Section 2 of the charter.

In the event Mayor Ed FitzGerald is elected to the county executive position, his term in that new office would also begin January 1, 2011, Qualifications for mayor may be found in the Second Amended Charter, Article 2, Section 2, and Article 23, Section 3; and a vacancy in that office is governed by Article 2, Section 8.
