9 Weeks and Still No Comment from City Leaders on Rumored Lakewood Hospital Move to Crocker Park

The possibility that the Cleveland Clinic could move Lakewood Hospital operations to Crocker Park in Westlake may seem remote, but some residents aren’t so sure. Recently, Beck Center for the Arts seriously considered moving to Crocker Park, until the City of Lakewood delivered a financial subsidy of around $100,000 to help keep Beck from leaving Lakewood. Residents want to learn more about the possibility that Lakewood Hospital could close and if any of the rumors are true. But, so far, Lakewood Mayor Michael Summers and Lakewood Council members are keeping quiet about the City’s hospital operating agreement with the Cleveland Clinic, the top discussion in the “Community Forum” again this week.

These are the latest discussions in the Community, Westshore Entrepreneur, and National forums today, plus the most recent Free Classifieds posted.

On Saturday, January 28th, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., area musicians and community leaders will take the stage at the Lakewood Masonic Temple, 15300 Detroit Avenue, for “All You Need Is Love (and Food).”  They’ll take turns performing and singing Beatles songs to help raise food and funds for Trinity Lakewood Community Outreach (TLCO), a local hunger-relief group.

Some of the event’s confirmed musicians are Joey Beltram, Matt Charboneau, Sheela Das, Bobbie Hendrick, Charlie Mosbrook, Rachel Shortt, Christopher Solt, Katie Stadler, Mike Uva, Jason Weiner, Rick Williams and Terrell Williams.

Suggested admission is a $10 donation plus a can of food.  The Masonic Temple will be set up coffeehouse-style for a casual, relaxed evening with Root Café providing coffee and home-baked sweets and treats (included in the admission donation). All proceeds will go to support TLCO’s hunger-relief efforts.

TLCO was founded in 2009, as the community outreach arm of Trinity Lutheran Church of Lakewood.  TLCO’s mission is “to foster a healthy community through collaboration, education and meeting basic needs.”
