About Lakewood Buzz

According to The Plain Dealer Lakewood Buzz is “the oldest community website in the region.” The Buzz was created in Lakewood, Ohio by former Society of Professional Journalists Cleveland president and City of Lakewood community relations official Steve FitzGerald, in concert with a Community Advisory Board more than 17 years ago. The Buzz’s beta site was launched Thanksgiving Day 2000. Following community input, modifications and final testing, Lakewood Buzz officially rolled out as an early experiment in social media in March of 2001. Today, the Buzz attracts not only Lakewood residents but also readers in Cleveland, Ohio and the surrounding suburbs in Cuyahoga County.

Since 2000, Lakewood Buzz has grown to become the largest medium (online or in print) targeted to readers in Lakewood and the Cleveland Westshore, and it continues to attract new subscribers, likes and followers… daily.

“Some 39.5 percent of Lakewood respondents said they visited the website LakewoodBuzz.com.” — Communication Audit for Lakewood, Ohio prepared by the School of Communication, Cleveland State University.
