You may qualify for low-interest Heritage Home Loan!

In 2005, Lakewood homeowners can get expert advice on how to maintain the historic character of their older homes, plus get the financial assistance to preserve them!  Cuyahoga County Treasurer James Rokakis, the Cleveland Restoration Society and the Ohio Arts Council, have joined to introduce the “Heritage Home Loan Program” to help owners of older and historic homes to maintain, repair and improve their properties with 3.5% interest rate loans.

The Cleveland Restoration Society’s Preservation Resource Center will help you determine a preservation approach for your home that can be financed through this program.  The low rate is made possible by the Cuyahoga County Treasurer's linked deposit program with KeyBank.

About the 3.5% Loan:

  • No maximum on borrower's income.

  • Single-family, two-family, and three-family dwellings are eligible.

  • Homes must have a market value of less than $500,000, according to the County Auditor. Properties with a value between $500,000 and $750,000 are eligible for exterior improvements only.

  • Maximum loan amount is determined by lender.

  • Minimum loan amount is $3,000.

  • Loan repayment term can be up to 10 years.

  • A fee of 2% of the loan amount is charged to help pay for the historic consulting service. Bank fees do not exceed $175.

Does Your Home Qualify?

  • Was your Lakewood house built before 1950?

  • Does your house retain most of its original materials and features, such as wood siding, windows, porches, etc., or would you be willing to re-establish these features?

  • Is your house located in a neighborhood with a concentration of building constructed before 1950?
