Under the direction of the Lakewood's Law Director, this department is responsible for guiding legal
cases on behalf of the City in Lakewood Municipal Court.
The law director advises the Mayor, Police Department, City Council, and all offices,
departments, divisions and commissions
of Lakewood municipal government in the defense and
prosecution of criminal and civil matters. The
department also mediates various disputes
involving residents. The Law Director also serves as Mayor when the elected
Mayor can not.
