Lakewood seniors can get some help maintaining their homes. The 90-minute workshop ”How to Hire a Contractor” is geared for seniors to help take the hassle out of home repairs. The event is March 7th from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at the Lawther Center, 16024 Madison Avenue in Lakewood. The workshop’s focus will be on the basics of planning and bidding out projects, covering:
- Obtaining and reviewing bids
- Specifying what is to be done
- Selecting a contractor
- Avoiding common pitfalls
- Monitoring the work
The cost for the workshop is $5.00 for individuals age 60 and older, and $15.00 for ages 59 and under. Transportation for Lakewood seniors will be available for a suggested donation of $3.00 round-trip. There will also be a lunch prior to the event at 11:45 a.m. for a suggested donation of $1.00.
